What this website collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Who we are

Heights Accountancy Ltd is a limited company registered in England and Wales, based at Halton Mill, Mill Lane, Halton, Lancaster LA2 6ND. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

If you have a question about this policy, or about information we hold about you, email info@heightsaccountancy.co.uk or call 07751 631601.

What this policy covers

This policy is about heightsaccountancy.co.uk — this website. If you become a client, the engagement letter we agree with you covers how we handle your accounting records, and that is a separate document.

What we collect

We do not collect anything automatically. There is no analytics on this website, no advertising pixel, and no tracking of any kind. If you read this site and leave, we have no record that you were here.

We only hold information you choose to give us:

  • If you email or call us, we have whatever you tell us — usually your name, your contact details and what you need help with.
  • If you book a call, you do that through Strively, our booking system. You give it your name, email address and a time. See “Services we use” below.
  • If you use one of the calculators and choose to send us your figures, we receive those figures along with the name and contact details you enter. The calculators work entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to us unless you press send.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use what you send us to answer your enquiry, prepare for a call, and give you a fee quote. That is all.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has asked us to get in touch is what they expect us to do with their details, and it does not override anyone's rights. Where you ask us to do something before becoming a client, such as a quote, the basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract.

We do not send marketing emails from this website and there is no mailing list sign-up on it. If that changes, we will ask for your consent separately and you will be able to withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. Three services are involved in running this site, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Strively — our booking system. If you book a call, your booking details are held there.
  • Trustindex — displays our Google reviews on the contact page. It shows reviews other people have left publicly on Google; it does not collect anything about you.
  • Our hosting provider — serves the website. Like any web server it processes your IP address in order to send you the page, and keeps short-term operational logs.

How long we keep it

If you contact us and do not become a client, we keep the correspondence while we are talking and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us, then delete it.

If you become a client, our engagement letter sets out how long we keep your records — accountants are required to keep certain records for a number of years, and that obligation is separate from this website.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it, where we have no continuing reason or legal obligation to keep it;
  • restrict or object to how we are using it;
  • provide it in a portable format, where that applies.

Making a complaint

If something has gone wrong, please tell us first — email info@heightsaccountancy.co.uk and we will look into it.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You can go to them directly; you do not have to come to us first.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if what we collect changes — for example if we add website analytics, which we currently do not use. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
